Mearns Kirk Helping Hands

Mearns Kirk Helping Hands

Mearns Kirk Helping Hands (MKHH) is an independently run charity which is “committed to improving health, wellbeing and reducing isolation within the community” (mkhelpinghands.org.uk).

It arose from the work of three existing church groups; Eastwood Bereavement Group, The Friendship Club and the Lunch Club for those living with Dementia, all of which had been running for many years.  With Kirk Session approval MKHH was incorporated as a charity in 2016.

Our congregation has a very close relationship with MKHH through church volunteers and trustees.  The charity has daily use of our church halls, and the Operations Manager, Deputy Operations Manager, Befriending Co-ordinator and Project Worker are provided with office space and enjoy our modern facilities.  The Charity also receive our financial support.

Currently MKHH are running 11 different groups within our halls, including, the Men’s Breakfast Club, Tai Chi and Strength & Balance classes.
